With the increasing variety of electrical and instrumentation equipment, higher demands are placed on the flexibility of power supply applications. Designing a universal power supply that is flexible, convenient, and relatively inexpensive is becoming more and more desirable in the market. Modern MCUs are moving toward faster and faster processing, more and more peripheral resources, and cheaper prices. Integrating MCU into the power supply design can greatly improve the performance and flexibility of the power supply.
This paper introduces a switching power supply design method of a single-chip microcomputer plus a PWM chip, which can not only maintain the stable working performance brought by the PWM chip, but also provide various human-computer interaction and communication interfaces by using the control capability of the single-chip microcomputer. The power supply designed by the author is used as a universal power supply, and can provide flexible and programmable voltage and current output. In addition, it can also be set as a lead-acid battery charger mode, which has broad application prospects.
