On April 6, 2011, Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. developed the new ceramic capacitor "DE6 Series Type KJ", which will be used in the on-board charger for electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles (Fig. 1). The new product has excellent temperature cycle resistance, and the residual rate is 100% when the test is repeated for 1000 times for 30 minutes in the temperature range of -55 ° C and 125 ° C (Fig. 2). It can be used in the filter unit via the charger's AC input line. The new product has been certified to the X1/Y2 level of the safety standard UL/ENEC (VDE).

Murata's original ceramic components are coated with a newly developed flame retardant epoxy resin, thereby improving the temperature cycle characteristics. The newly developed product has a capacity of 100 to 4700 pF. The tolerance of the capacity is ±10% for the 100-680pF model and ±20% for the 1000p to 4700pF model. The rated voltage is 300V AC and the withstand voltage is 2600V. The sample price is around 8 yen each.
