TI delivers superior sound and comprehensive protection for smart speakers and whispering walls

Texas Instruments (TI) has introduced three new digital input Class D audio amplifiers to help engineers design more smart home and voice-activated applications with high-resolution audio. By combining Primal Integration, Real-Time Protection and a new modulation solution, Texas Instruments' new audio device helps designers reduce layout space and save on bill of materials (BOM). The three new amplifiers are designed for personal electronics at different power levels, including smart speakers, SoundBar, TVs, notebooks, projectors and Internet of Things (IoT) related applications.

Increase volume, improve sound quality and simplify voice capture with the TAS277015-Waudio amplifier

Effectively place high output peak power in small speakers: The TAS2770 is the first wide power I/V sense amplifier to be used with TI's intelligent amplifier algorithms to provide the most advanced real-time protection for speakers. In applications with small speakers, the TAS2770 amplifier monitors the condition of the speakers, increasing the volume while increasing the sound quality, and does not require any changes to the industrial design.

Add voice commands without changing the audio design: The TAS2770 is the industry's first audio front end (AFE) that combines a digital microphone input with an I/V sense amplifier. In voice-activated applications, the TAS2770 enables echo cancellation and noise reduction when capturing speech and ambient sound information.

Prevent audio clipping and buck: The TAS2770 monitors the battery voltage and automatically reduces the signal gain when the audio signal exceeds a set threshold. This feature helps designers prevent audio clipping and extend playback time after charging is complete without degrading sound quality.

TAS5825M audio amplifier helps your smart speaker handle 192kHz audio signals

Enhance and protect system audio quality: The TAS5825M audio amplifier supports 192kHz input sampling frequency and flexible integration process to help designers get high quality audio with minimal effort. In addition, the TAS5825M provides bass boost and thermal protection for the speaker.

Simplified echo cancellation: The TAS5825M's dedicated serial audio interface data output provides ambient sound information to the application processor.

Lower power consumption: Engineers can reduce air consumption and heat dissipation without sacrificing sound quality through the TAS5825M proprietary mixed mode modulation scheme.

TAS3251 audio amplifier helps improve sound quality and system reliability

Combining high performance and high integration: The TAS3251 is the industry's first amplifier to integrate digital input solutions, supporting output power and performance up to 2x175W, all in a single package.

Achieve reliable high-power audio: The TAS3251 enables flexible processing and self-protection up to 96kHz, including cycle-by-cycle current limit and DC speaker protection.

These new Class D amplifiers have been incorporated into TI's portfolio of premium audio amplifiers, enabling engineers to design a wide range of premium audio applications, from automotive to personal electronics and professional audio systems.

Can designers use TIPurePath? The console software easily configures the TAS2770, TAS5825M, and TAS3251D audio amplifiers. Engineers can quickly launch designs with the TAS2770 stereo audio subsystem reference design. TI also offers other resources and reference designs to help engineers design smart speakers.
