High Fidelity and NeoSensory announce a new touch-sensitive jacket that allows the wearer to experience physical contact and the environment around them in virtual reality (VR).
High Fidelity is known for developing open source platforms for social VR and working with NeoSensory to let hardware creators expand human senses. This new product has been born, called "exoskin", which is equipped as a wearable device. 32 induction motors and interface with High Fidelity's hardware device open source architecture. This allows the wearer to feel the real-time, precise tactile sensation transmitted between users in the virtual world.
The response time of sending a signal between users means that one can feel the tapping or scratching of another avatar, which means they can take action and react accordingly. This also means that they can perform dances together, caress each other's touches, and feels that they are adjacent to each other in virtual reality. This possibility is not limited to tapping and dancing, but also allows the outer skin to be controlled in a high-fidelity manner, allowing developers to add new features to the external skin, including pulses used in video games, with controllers. The rumble sounded at a critical moment is similar.
