Goro Fujita, Facebook's art director, is involved in the work of the social VR team. Fujita often uses Facebook's first-party art tool Quill to create fanciful "quillistrations", and he announced his latest work today, saying it helps He explored the possibility of bringing Quill's artwork to the Oculus Quest.
The room-scale experience, titled "The Last Oasis," is much larger than his previous works, and presents users with a series of rooms filled with detailed hand-drawn characters. We can see in the video that the experience is filled with different emotions, from the magical feeling of suddenly opening up after climbing into the aquarium, to the horror and horror of walking through rickety buildings/
Goro Fujita describes the synopsis of "The Last Oasis": "It's the year 2125. A man-made disaster has destroyed most of the Earth's ecosystems. A series of superstorms have left the entire west coast of North America desolate. Ogini Orog is the A brilliant scientist and one of the few survivors. He used his wits to build a safe bunker and searched for resources in harsh environments in order to preserve and save the last traces of humanity or nature. You can Explore each room and discover the clues in it."
With a wireless headset, you'd be hard-pressed to really experience something as massive as "The Last Oasis," at least at the expense of some of the freedom to explore new environments. But for Fujita, this freedom is a key differentiator that helps you connect more directly with the artist.
"It's always been a dream of mine to step into my own painting or someone else's," Fujita said. "With Quest, you can remove the cable and have a wireless experience, which means you can now move freely through space. "
"Usually when I create I think about how to compose the image. It's more about how to design the space and how to create different emotions in each space. I use a different color language, different shades of light, so when you step into a space When you have a new space, you feel different. It's not just a painting. You can actually send people to your mind, and I think that's the most powerful element for an artist that I never thought could make it happen."
Like most VR art tools, Quill means artists don't need to master a game engine to create a single asset, or a large-scale production like "The Last Oasis," which they can freely create with a VR headset and motion controllers. Fujita said he and a team of Facebook software engineers completed the piece in just five days. Oculus has said earlier that content created through Quill will definitely be available on the Oculus Quest, but it hasn't confirmed whether the app itself is compatible with the Quest.
Lithium-ion Battery Market - Shadowing the Growth of EVs
The lithium-ion battery market will grow over 2x between 2017 and 2027 – where will this spurt in growth come from? Unsurprisingly, consumer electronics will be at the forefront; however, it will witness massive uptake by the automobile industry that will catalyze revenue streams. As EV penetration grows rapidly, and the automotive industry looks to reduce its dependence on fossils, lithium-ion battery manufacturers will unlock access to opportunities that were unthinkable of a decade ago.
Growth will also be complemented by the growing focus on renewables. As government and private initiatives on harnessing solar and wind energy gain traction, the lithium-ion industry will play a central role. However, amidst the euphoria in the industry, the traditional challenges associated with supply/demand are also likely to crop up. Also, while a majority of the lithium-ion batteries manufactured currently satisfy the 'cycle stability' parameter, creating next-gen batteries that do not falter in terms of 'overall age' remains a challenge. Overall, these are exciting times to be in the lithium-ion battery landscape, as the highly-touted EV revolution grows stronger by the day.
